Deaf Sports New Zealand hosted a Special General Meeting at CQ Hotel on Saturday 11th February 2017. A Special General Meeting was called because there were not enough members to proceed with the Biennial General Meeting in October 2016. The Special General Meeting was attended by the following members; Northern Zone Deaf Sports, Central Zone Deaf Sports, NZ Deaf 8 Ball Pool, NZ Deaf Basketball, NZ Deaf Football, NZ Deaf Lawn Bowls and NZ Deaf Tenpin Bowling. Southern Zone Deaf Sports was unable to attend.
The Special General Meeting was a success with two remits proposed by the Deaf Sports New Zealand Executive Board being ratified. The Deaf Sports New Zealand Constitution has now been updated, and is available for the public. The New Zealand Deaf Games ByLaws have also been updated, and is also available for the public.
We can now confirm that the next New Zealand Deaf Games will be held in January 2019. More information about the 2019 New Zealand Deaf Games will be announced in due time. We will be implementing the new playing competition format which sees a Competition Grade for qualifying Deaf Athletes, and a Social Grade which has less restrictions and allows for hearing members of the Deaf Community to be involved. We are excited about these changes.
