ExecutiveBoardDirectoryThen you should apply to join the Deaf Sports New Zealand Executive Board. Our vision is to “develop the numbers of Deaf and hard of hearing enjoying sport”. Applications are now invited for all positions on the Executive Board, including President, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as Board Members. Previously there have been no positions on the Executive Board for a Secretary or Treasurer, but the Executive Board has decided that reinstating these positions on the Executive Board will reduce the workload currently imposed on the President, and allow the Executive Board to better work together as a team.

Deaf Sports New Zealand (DSNZ) was established in 1963 and is an affiliated member of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (formerly CISS). Deaf Sports New Zealand has several Associate Members being National Deaf Sport Associations, which host their own Open Championship events.

Deaf Sports New Zealand works with the Associate Members and Individual Athletes to provide pathways to International representation at the Deaflympics, Asia Pacific Deaf Games, Australia Deaf Games as well as World Championships.

Deaf Sports New Zealand has identified 4 key focus areas:

  1. Participation
Encourage participation in sport at all ages
  2. Competition
Provide opportunities for Deaf and hard of hearing to compete in all levels of sport
  3. Communication
Maintain a high level of communication with our members, athletes and the wider community
  4. Human Resources
Processes are in place to ensure that Deaf Sports New Zealand is a well functioning organisation
